Puttur Kambala
Camera, camera bag and me all drenced with the muddy water splashed by the combined effort of men & the beast. Still it didn’t affect my determination to put on where I am and continue clicking on the event which I wanted to witness for a long long time. Same is true with the dozen other photographers who had much bigger lenses than mine
Travelled 54 kms from Mangalore towards Bangalore with the company of some good music & fellow passengers on a dull, sleepy, scorching Sunday afternoon to reach the place called Puttur. For the next 5 hours the only words I uttered were … “How to go to Kambala field?” “Where to catch Mangalore bus?”
Kambala is a form of rural sport conducted in the coastal region of Karnataka around Mangalore, Udupi & Kasaragod(part of Kerala). It’s a kind of bull race through 200 meters of muddy & murky water. Now for the important part… the photographs.
