Puttur Kambala

Camera, camera bag and me all drenced with the muddy water splashed by the combined effort of men & the beast. Still it didn’t affect my determination to put on where I am and continue clicking on the event which I wanted to witness for a long long time. Same is true with the dozen other photographers who had much bigger lenses than mine :(

Travelled 54 kms from Mangalore towards Bangalore with the company of some good music & fellow passengers on a dull, sleepy, scorching Sunday afternoon to reach the place called Puttur. For the next 5 hours the only words I uttered were … “How to go to Kambala field?” “Where to catch Mangalore bus?” :)

Kambala is a form of rural sport conducted in the coastal region of Karnataka around Mangalore, Udupi & Kasaragod(part of Kerala). It’s a kind of bull race through 200 meters of muddy & murky water. Now for the important part… the photographs.
